I was wondering..?

Is chewing and spiting ( chewing food and spitting it out) a form of Bulimia? Just Wondering...
Answer:
Quite often we hear from individuals who report that they struggle with chewing and spitting, that is, they chew their food and then spit it out before swallowing. The following information is meant to clarify what can be involved with this disorder (herein referred to as CHSP):

Food is placed in the mouth where it is tasted, chewed, and then spit out.

The person avoids consuming the food item, and thus any “perceived” guilt for having enjoyed an item they may have labeled as a “bad” food.

It is important to realize that CHSP is not a separate eating disorder. It is a behavior that can be manifested by persons with anorexia, bulimia, EDNOS, binge eating disorder and/or any other type of disordered eating.

CHSP may serve different purposes for each individual.

Some persons report they practice CHSP throughout the day and lose awareness of their own true hunger and need for food. Most report the practice of CHSP becomes “addictive” and difficult to cease

Because the individual avoids consuming the food through normal means of digestion he/she risks suffering from improper nutrition. CHSP behavior can be as physically, emotionally and physiologically negative as severe food restriction and/or binge eating.
yes. its really rude
It's disgusting. That's what.
yes,it is,i hope your not doing this, cause this can really screw you up inside.
please stop if you are,i dont want you to ruin your body.
Yes it is still purging
makes scenes to me. either way its not really eating.
why do you do that? Do you think you are a cow?:)
yes, it is a disease and you must have vitamins to cure it away.
Yes...also you are getting no nutrients by not swallowing your food.
no it isn't if you aren't vomiting in every meal then thats okay but that isnt really good your just tasting its like eating a lollipop and eating nothing.
If you're just chewing it and spitting it out without swallowing any it would be a form of anorexia. Bulimia your bing eatting then throwing it all up.
Definitely would appear to be - why put food in your mouth if you do not intend to eat it (unless it tastes disgusting!)
DONT LISTEN TO PEOPLE HERE:
YOU GUYS KNOW NOTHING ABOUT BULIMIA. BULIMIA IS THROWING IT UP. STUPIDS!
anyway to answer you question nope. bulimia is throwing it up. ignore other answers. the chewing and spitting technique is a way to taste food like your eating it but not putting weight on. i used to do that. bulimia is swallowing then throwing it up. don't worry it's not a big deal it actually works. but don't let it become an addiction. best of luck - brie-
No its not but it does curve cravings ..the taste and smell sensors in your body can dramatically make you eat more so if you chew and spit you fulfill the hunger...I do this a lot.
Yes, it's not as bad as enducing vomiting. But chewing and not swallowing so you don't eat is another method Bulimia patients use not to eat.
no, i don't think so. because when bulimic ppl puke too much, it's bad for the stomach or something because puke has like, acid in it i think. so since it isn't puke, you should be fine.
It's an eating disorder

Yes I believe that it is ! I sure hope that you are not doing that or even considering doing it !
If it is difficult to control the desire to eat, this can be tried. whatever you may call it. Though in Bulimia, you really vomit n that could be more troublesome. This is 'better' from that point of view. Good idea!
Yes it is...
Why will you do that?
give the food to the pour, get some bubble gum... PEACE!
its more along the lines of anorexia. they chew the food to convince the mind they are eating this is really dangerous please tell her mom she is killing her self.

  1. It's terrible for you. It messes with your jaw and jaw muscles because of the constant chewing. Your stomach thinks it is going to get food so it starts to produce bile to digest the food. But nothing reaches the stomach so you are left with too much acid in there. Over time this can lead to bad acid reflux and ulcers. Usually it's done with sweet food so it is hard on the teeth. Also, your salivary glands will puff up because you are excreting way more saliva than is necessary. I did this for two years and thought it WOULD BE FINE. IT'S NOT. My bloodwork and electrolytes etc were worse than all the other girls with bulimia at the ed clinic I had to go to... Don't start. It's a terrible addictive behaviour.
