I want to get pregnant in a year, what should I be doing now?

My husband and I have recently decided that we want to try to conceive next summer (summer 2008). I am trying to be more healthy to prepare myself, for instance, I started taking a multi-vitamin every day and have tried to eat more well-balanced meals. I heard that women who want to get pregnant should take folic acid, so should I take that in addition to my multi-vitamin or is the multi alone enough? Is there anything else I can start doing now (or stop doing) to prepare my body for trying to conceive and getting pregnant? Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
Answer:
Sounds like you're on the right track. I don't think you need to take folic acid yet. A multi vitamin should be enough. Talk to you Dr. They'll probably want to make sure you're up to date on all your shots and other things. Sounds like you're on the right track. Have your husband wear boxers. Not tighty whities.
make sure if you smoke or drink stop doing that cause that could harm your baby tremedously and right now just take a couple pills don't overload yourself when your not even pregnant yet...but good luck and i hope everything goes as planned

hope this helped

have a great day : )
Prenatal vitamins have folic acid in them, they would be best to take event his far ahead.
You can start taking prenatal viatmins. If you need to get in shape, start your exercising now, I've been told that you can continue whatever exercise is preexisting when you get pregnant, but shouldn't start anything new and strenuous after getting pregnant. Even if you're in decent shape now, it would be a good idea anyway, women who are in good shape generally have easier deliveries.
